What is n8n?
n8n is an automation platform that connects applications such as CRM, e-mail, accounting, spreadsheets and AI models into workflows. Workflows are built visually. Where standard building blocks are not enough, custom code can help out.
The big difference from many other tools: n8n can be run on your own server. Your data then does not pass through third-party data centres, and costs do not depend on the number of executions. For data-sensitive companies and for workflows with many executions, this is often the deciding factor.

Is n8n free?
The self-hosted version, the Community Edition, can be used without licence fees. There are costs for the server, usually a few euros per month, and for setup and operation. There is also the hosted n8n Cloud with monthly plans.
Is n8n GDPR-compliant?
If n8n is run on your own server in Germany, your data leaves that server only to go where you send it, for example to your CRM. This makes the data protection assessment much simpler. It does not replace a review by your data protection officer, but we supply the necessary documentation.
n8n or Zapier?
Zapier is quicker to set up and ideal for simple workflows. n8n plays to its strengths with complex workflows, many executions and high data protection requirements. More on this in our comparison.
Who takes care of updates?
On request, we do. Updates are tested beforehand, because details occasionally change with n8n updates. A backup is made before every update.
